The Procedure of Admission to the Novopolotsk Technical University (NTU) for Foreign Nationals.

Foreign nationals intending to get a higher education at the Novopolotsk Technical University (NTU) should submit the invitation signed by the Rector of the NTU to the Embassy or to the Consulate Institution of the Republic of Belarus to obtain an entry visa for education. International students are enrolled at the Preparatory Department for a one year period for taking a course of Russian language and foundation courses in mathematics, physics and information science. After successful completion of the courses they are transferred to any of the five faculties of the University (Appendix 1). The University offers a 5 year non-degree Engineer's Diploma program and a 6 year Master's level degree program in all specialities.

Prospective applicants for entry to the Preparatory Department or their agents are requested to submit the following documents either by mail or by fax to obtain an invitation for application:

— copy of Education Certificate with academic record including the titles of courses and examinations marks (score), or a reference about current studies (for undergraduates) attested in accordance with established procedure. NTU entrance requirements for international students include general or special secondary education level.

— copy of Birth Certificate, Passport or other personal identification.
Enrollment procedure is conducted from October, 1 to December, 1 of the current year. Classes start in the order of forming groups of 6-8 students and are completed on June, 30. Tuition fee at the Preparatory Department is 800 (eight hundred) US dollars paid after concluding a personal contract with the University. Hostel accommodation is provided during the whole period of study. Lodging fee for a double room having all modern conveniences is 10 US dollars per month and not included in tuition fees.

To make an education contract with the University each applicant is required to submit the following documents:

— Application to enter the University specifying the speciality chosen.

— Education Certificate (or other credentials) (in the original) with academic record including the titles of courses studied and examinations marks (score).

— Health Certificate issued by an official institution of public health of applicant's home country.

— HIV laboratory test Certificate issued by an official institution of public health of applicant's home country.

— copy of Birth Certificate attested according to established procedure.

— 6 photos of 4 x 6 cm size.

All the documents should be submitted either in Russian or in English, French, Spanish , German before the classes starting date.

After arriving at the University the students are required to undergo medical examination at a clinic (examination charges are 65 US dollars) and sign a medical insurance contract with some insurance company of the Republic of Belarus.

In case applicant's home country medical examination data do not conform to the medical examination data in the Republic of Belarus the applicant is required to quit the country.

After successful examinations international students get the Preparatory Courses completion certificate and are transferred to the University for the first year.

The necessary pre-requisite for enrollment in some program is the availability of passport or some other personal identification document, visa and required medical insurance contract made out in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Belarus.

Tuition fee for Diploma or Master's Degree programs is 900-1200 US dollars per year depending on the speciality chosen.

University graduates showing excellence in studies can enroll in postgraduate programs for Ph.D degree.
